ABOUT ALEX 

Alex McGarry is a professional artist best known for her realistic paintings of British wildlife and birds.

Alex was just nine years old when she begged her Dad, (internationally recognised wildlife artist Pip McGarry) for some oil paints and brushes so she could be a ‘proper artist’. He provided Alex with all the materials and the first Alex McGarry was completed - a painting of a baby deer. 


At sixteen Alex joined her local art societies and started exhibiting her work. With no formal art training Alex has allowed her style to evolve organically and has developed her techniques within her own style. For the past ten years Alex has been a full time artist and has exhibited her paintings across the country.


Alex’s paintings have won several awards, the two most notable - firstly the    public’s choice at Mottisfont Abbey in Hampshire. Her painting being chosen by the public from over 200 exhibits. More recently Alex has been nominated and won the           prestigious Fine Art Trade Guild  - ‘Up and Coming Artist of the Year’. The award was handed out at an awards ceremony.  


In September 2019 Alex opened The Alex McGarry Studio & Gallery where she carries out all her painting in view of the general public and has a display of her paintings.


Alex has been represented by De Montfort Fine Art since 2020. De Montfort Fine Art who own Whitewall Galleries and Clarendon Galleries are the largest distributer of    original art and fine art prints in the UK. Hence Alex’s painting are in galleries across the UK and onboard luxury cruise ships, such as the Queen Mary II. 


In November 2023, Alex was appointed the official 'Artist In Residence' at the Hawk Conservancy Trust.
